"Snagit 2022 quit unexpectedly"
Crashing repeatedly. "Reopen" just leads back to the same error window (titled "Problem report for Snagit 2022").
Things that I've tried (and which made no difference):
- Restarting my Mac
- Reinstalling SnagIt
- Removing all .snagx files from the Snagit folder and trying to relaunch
MacOS 12.3.1 / MBP 14-inch 2021, 32GB M1 Pro

Hi,
So sorry about this! I would open a ticket with tech support and provide the crash logs. They will be able to take a look and see what's causing this and get things working well for you again.

I am having the same issue

Hi,
We just released a 2022.1.0 update today that might fix the issue, so I would try that first. If it's still happening, then I would recommend opening up a support ticket.

I have reinstalled, restarted and removed .snagx files - same issue

I'm also having the same problem. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and I'm still getting the same error.

I spoke with support and this was what they recommended. I can confirm that after going through these steps and reinstalling the software, I am now able to start and use Snagit 2022 on Mac OS 12.4.
1.) Close Snagit and confirm its not running by accessing Activity Monitor. Look for Snagit in the running list of applications.
2.) Click on your Finder and then click the Go menu at the top, then select Go to folder….
3.) Type the following and hit Enter: ~/Library/Preferences/
4.) Locate all com.techsmith.snagit.plist (and the backup.plist one) files and move them to your trash
5.) Confirm that com.techsmith.snagit.plist is no longer in the Preferences folder.
6.) Reboot the computer and try Snagit again.0 -
Hi folks,
Sorry about this issue, we've been looking into it and we may have found the root cause. If you clear out the following folder of any .snagitvideocapture files:
~/Library/Group\ Containers/7TQL462TU8.com.techsmith.snagit/Snagit\ 2022/PendingCaptures
it should make the issue go away. If you need the videos for those, you can find the mp4 files in the adjacent Temporary folder. This only seems to affect videos taken with prior versions of Snagit, so once you've gotten past this, it should not come back. I hope this helps.
