Problem
Attempting to unzip a ZIP file created with Camtasia (Mac) gives an error when manually unzipping the file, or it crashes Camtasia when opening it by Import Zipped Project on Camtasia (Windows).
Solution
This is a known issue that is fixed in Camtasia 2018.0.2 and later. To update, open Camtasia and from the menu bar click Camtasia > Check for Updates. If unable to update, follow the workaround below.
Sharing with Camtasia for Mac
Share the .cmproj file. The .cmproj file has everything within the project embedded into it. There is no need to create a zip file for the project.
Sharing with Camtasia for Windows
- Find the .cmproj file and control-click the file and select Show Package Contents.
- Select everything in this folder and control-click any one of the items you selected and select Compress to create a zip file.
- Send the zip file to the Windows user and have the Windows user unzip the file to their computer.
- In the unzipped location, double-click the .tscproj file.
