Snagit Video Capture Terminated Unexpectedly. The Video Recorder Returned Error 0x80004005

Problem

After updating to Snagit 13.1, the video recorder displays this message whenever a new video is being recorded:

Solution

This is a known issue that is fixed in Snagit 13.1.2 and later. Select Help > Check for Updates in Snagit to install the latest version. If you are still running into this error after updating, please see this article.
