Projects in Camtasia are not backward-compatible, so make sure that everyone is on the same version of Camtasia before completing the steps below. Users can verify the version they are running by going to Help > About Camtasia. Visit our download center to grab the latest version of your TechSmith software.
Mac to Windows:
- On your Mac, open Camtasia
- Open the project you'd like to share and click on File > Export > Project for Windows
- Save this ZIP file to a location on your computer
- Share the ZIP to the Windows User
- Windows user will then open a new project in Camtasia and click File > Import > Zipped Project
Windows to Mac:
- On your PC, open your project in Camtasia
- Click on File > Export > Project for Mac
- Save this ZIP file to your computer and then share the file to your colleague on a Mac
- They will then open via File > Import > Zipped Project
Windows to Windows:
- Open the project in Camtasia
- Click on File > Export > Zipped Project
- Send the ZIP file to your colleague
- They will then open a new project and click on File > Import > Zipped Project
Mac to Mac:
- Open the project you're working on in Camtasia
- Click on File > Save As and then name it and make sure the box for "Standalone Project" is checked
- Send the project file to your coworker
- They can double click to open the project file in Camtasia or open Camtasia and choose "Open Project" then select the file.
