Snagit (Windows): During a Video capture, Audio is not being recorded

Note: If you are experiencing this problem while running Snagit 12 on Windows 10, please see this article.

Snagit 11.1 and later

Snagit 11.1 and later (Windows 7 and 8 only) has the ability to record the system audio (sounds from your computer) and the microphone.  For more information, click the links below:

Older Versions

Snagit provides some configuration options for recording audio during video capture, however your computer must have a sound card capable of capturing system audio (what you would normally hear from your speakers).

For recording System Audio, you will need one of these options: stereo mix, mono mix, what you hear, speaker audio, mixer, wave out mix, wave in.

Please use the following steps for setting up your computer and Snagit 10 or earlier to try to capture audio. Video capture was re-written for Snagit 11, please see this tutorial for more information. Hardware setup for recording applies to all versions of Snagit.
