How do I back up my captures in the Snagit Library or move them to a new computer?

Snagit 2021 and Earlier
Back up the Library
The following are not transferred when backing up or restoring a library:
- Date created for unsaved captures.
- Captures saved by selecting File > Save As. You must manually copy saved images.
- Open Snagit Editor.
- Select:
- Snagit 2018 to Snagit 2021: Edit > Editor Preferences > Library tab > Backup/Restore Automatically Stored Files.
- Snagit 13: File > Editor Preferences > Library tab > Backup/Restore Automatically Stored Files.
- Click Backup.
- Enter a file name and location to save the backup, .snagarchive file.
Restore the Library
Restoring a library overwrites the captures in the current library. Merging two libraries is not supported at this time. If you are running Snagit 2022 make sure you are on the latest version. To do this select Help > Check for Updates in Snagit to install the latest update.
- Open Snagit Editor.
- Select:
- Snagit 2018 and later: Edit > Editor Preferences > Library tab > Import Backup or Backup/Restore Automatically Stored Files.
- Snagit 13: File > Editor Preferences > Library tab > Backup/Restore Automatically Stored Files.
- Click Restore (Version 2021 and earlier).
- Select the .snagarchive file and click Open.
- Restart Snagit.
Snagit 2022 and Later
When using Snagit 2022 and later, it becomes even easier to move the Snagit library to a new computer.- Open the Snagit Editor
- Select Edit > Editor Preferences and then click the Library tab
- Make note of the location of your Snagit Library, then open that location in File Explorer
- Create a copy of the Snagit library folder and transfer the copy to your new computer
Make sure to move the library folder onto the internal drive of your new computer. We recommend moving it into the Documents folder.
- Open the Snagit Editor on the new computer
- Select Edit > Editor Preferences and then click the Library tab
- Click on Choose location... and then Browse other...
- Select the Snagit folder copied from the previous computer
- Click OK in Snagit
