Problem
The capture when viewed in Snagit is clear but when it is shared in Microsoft Word (or in other applications) it appears blurry or has changed in size.
Solution
Snagit captures the image at 100% of its original size. If you scale the image in Snagit, the image quality can be affected. Some applications shrink images to fit in the application window or frame which can cause the image to appear blurry or skewed. Check the application for an option to display the image at 100% or its original size.
To test if the application is scaling the image, paste the image into Microsoft Paint. Microsoft Paint will not scale the image.
Images in Snagit
Make sure the image is not resized in the capture settings in Capture or in Snagit Editor.
Images in Microsoft Word
This issue occurs if a program compresses or compacts an image file. This behavior occurs in Microsoft Word 2010 by default. To fix these changes, follow the steps below:
- Right-click the image and select Format Picture.
- Select Size and set scale to 100%.
In Microsoft Word 2010, select File > Options > Advanced and select Do Not Compress Images.
Images in Microsoft Outlook 2003
If you copy an image from another application (Snagit Editor, Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Paint) and paste it into Outlook 2003, the image quality appears the same as in the other programs until you share the image. The quality of the image decreases slightly as artifacts occur around the text after you send the image.
