Problem
How to move captures in Snagit from one Apple computer to another.
Solution
- Close Snagit.
- Go to the current location of the Autosaved Captures folder on the new computer. By default, this folder is located in the following locations
- Snagit 2022 or Newer: ~/Pictures/Snagit
- Snagit 2021 or earlier: ~\Pictures\Snagit\Autosaved Captures or ~\Documents\Snagit\Autosaved Captures
- Copy the contents from the capture folder from the old computer onto the new computer.
- Restart Snagit.
If you are unsure where your library is currently being saved on the computer, you can find out by opening up Snagit and navigating up to Snagit>Settings>Advanced referenced library location will be visible here in this menu.
Tags and Application icons will not transfer to the new computer if you are on Snagit versions 2021 or earlier. Native .Snagx captures from Snagit 2022 or later will retain the metadata information on transfer.
