Problem
When opening a project in Camtasia an error says "The project file cannot be opened. Make sure the selected file is a valid .tscproj file."
Solution
This can occur if the project file is in a corrupt state.
Option 1
- In Camtasia click Edit > Preferences > Program Tab.
- Click Open AutoSave Folder
- Look to see if there is an autosaved version of the project that can be opened.
Option 2
Submit a ticket to our support team to what we can do to recover the project.
Tip: Avoid Project Corruption
Storing active/in-progress projects and source files on the local hard drive and not in a cloud, network, external, or otherwise synced folder can help prevent project corruption.
