Unable to Verify License in Camtasia Editor

Problem

Camtasia Editor presents an error that it is unable to verify license when attempting to launch. Camtasia Editor periodically requires an internet connection to verify your license. Check your connection and try again.

Solution

Step 1:

Verify you're connected to the internet and click "Try again." If you're behind a proxy server or firewall, please contact your IT team as they will need to add the following to its allowlist as found in our Proxy Server/Firewall article:

  • my.nalpeiron.com
  • nsa.nalpeiron.com
  • https://login.techsmith.com
  • https://ssgtm.techsmith.com

Camtasia Editor also needs to be able to communicate over ports 443 and 80.

*You may only need port 443.

Step 2:

If you have verified from your IT team these are all accessible through the firewall, and you are still getting this message please try the following:

  1. Open the Run Application by pressing Windows + R
  2. Paste in this location to the Run window and hit enter:  C:\Program Files\Common Files\TechSmith Shared\Support\
  3. Double-click the "TechSmithSupportTool" application to launch the tool.
  4. Select "Camtasia" as the Techsmith App if it's not already selected.
  5. Click on "Clear License Cache"
  6. Try activating the product again

If you continue to get this message, please open the support tool again, select Create Licensing Logs, and attach them to a support ticket
