Error 1406: Could Not Write Value DumpCount to Key

Problem

While installing Camtasia I receive the error:

"Error 1406: Could not write value DumpCount to key \Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows\Error Reporting\LocalDumps\CamtasiaStudio.exe."

Solution

Please try the steps below:

1. Press Windows+R on your keyboard to open the Run window.
2. Type the following and click OK: regedit
   
3. Using the pane on the left, browse here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\
   
4. Right-click the LocalDumps folder and choose Export and save it to your Desktop (this is a backup). 
5. Right-click the LocalDumps folder and delete it.
6. Reboot the computer.
7. Install Camtasia again.
