Camtasia (Windows): Error Code 350 During Uninstall

Problem

When attempting to uninstall Camtasia or install an update to Camtasia, you receive the following error:

Error Code: (350) No action was taken as a system reboot is required.

Solution

For all versions except for 9.1.2, download and install this tool from Microsoft. Run the scan, and then restart your computer and attempt to uninstall or update Camtasia. For version 9.1.2 only, follow the steps below.

Version 9.1.2 Only

  1. Exit Camtasia. Confirm that it is not running in Task Manager.
  2. Press Windows+R on your keyboard to open the Run window.
  3. Type the following and click OK: regedit
  4. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{34ab05ac-3089-417f-828e-c2da3d5b4e09}.

  5. Right-click the {34ab05ac-3089-417f-828e-c2da3d5b4e09} folder and choose Delete.

    There may be a double entry for {34ab05ac-3089-417f-828e-c2da3d5b4e09} and the second entry may have an addition of Reboot Needed attached to the end of the key. Delete that one as well.

  6. Close the Registry Editor.
  7. Press Windows+R on your keyboard to open the Run window.
  8. Type the following and click OK: %programdata%\Package Cache\{34ab05ac-3089-417f-828e-c2da3d5b4e09}\

  9. Right-click the CamtasiaInstaller_ENU.exe file and choose Delete.
