Problem
After selecting the area to capture with the cross hairs, the computer freezes with the screen grayed out with the spinning wait cursor (also known as the "spinning wheel", or the "spinning beach ball").
Solution
If you are on macOS Sonoma, this is a known issue on macOS Sonoma 14.0 with Snagit 2024.3.2 or later. In order to resolve this behavior you will want to update your macOS to its latest version for Sonoma specifically or upgrade the macOS to the latest release.
If you are not on macOS Sonoma 14.0 and are seeing this behavior please see below.
First, make sure the latest updates for your version of Snagit are installed. From the menu bar, select Snagit > Check for Updates to install updates. If the problem continues, try the steps below.
- Close Snagit.
- Open System Settings> Privacy and Security
- Go down this list of items and check the status of Snagit in these categories for Accessibility, Automation, and Screen & System Audio Recording. Make sure that Snagit is switched on for these categories.
- Try a new capture in Snagit.
