Camtasia Cannot Be Installed on Windows ARM-based PCs

Problem

When installing Camtasia I am presented with an error that Camtasia requires a 64-bit Operating System.

Solution

ARM-based PCs such as the Surface Pro X or Windows PCs powered by the Snapdragon processor, cannot install 64-bit applications, and Camtasia is only offered as a 64-bit application. You can learn more about what versions of Windows are supported here.

There may be some cases where Camtasia or Snagit are able to be installed on systems powered by the Snapdragon processor. This is likely possible due to emulation; please note that at this time, we do not support Camtasia or Snagit on non-Intel or non-AMD systems.


If you are unsure if you are running a 64-bit or 32-bit OS, please follow the steps here to determine this:


Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11

  1. Right Click on the Start button, then select Settings.

  3. At the right, under Device specifications, see System type.
