Snagit Is Already Running Error Message

Problem

When attempting to open Snagit I receive the following error:

Snagit is Already Running.

Snagit version x.x.x is already running.

Please close Snagit x.x.x before starting Snagit x.x.x where x.x.x refers to the version of Snagit you are using such as 2021.0.1

Solution

This indicates a different version of Snagit is still running on the computer, possibly in the background, and only one version of Snagit can be running at a time. Please close any open Snagit windows, and if the error still occurs, open the Task Manager to verify Snagit is not running by following these steps:

1. Press Control + Shift + Esc on your keyboard at the same time to open the Task Manager.
2. Once the Task Manager is open close any Snagit applications you see here, and click More details if possible.
   
3. Once More details is open look in the background processes for Snagit, and if you find any right click and select End Task.
   
4. Once all Snagit processes have been ended you should be able to open the version of Snagit you want to use.
