-3 Error on Snagit Mac

Problem

When you go to launch Snagit on MacOS you receive a Error -3.

Solution

With Snagit closed on MacOS, please take the following steps:

  1. Open the Applications folder in Finder
  2. Right click on Snagit and choose "Show Package Contents"
  3. Navigate to Contents > MacOS
  4. Open the SnagitSupport.app from there
  5. Click "Collect Information"
  6. Before clicking Done on the Window that pops up, reproduce the issue in Snagit, then click Done
  7. A window will appear with a Snagit_Data.zip file. 
  8. Open a Support ticket and attach the Snagit_Data.zip file to your reply.

After you have opened a support ticket (note, this is a critical step in addressing this issue; opening a support ticket is required for us to properly address this problem) you will need to delete the contents of a special folder.

While Snagit is still closed, please do the following:

  1. Open the Applications folder in Finder
  2. Right click on Snagit and choose "Show Package Contents"
  3. Navigate to Contents > MacOS
  4. Open the SnagitSupport.app from there
  5. Click on "Reset Cache"
  6. Click Reset to confirm on the popup window
  7. Restart Snagit and try again
