I Get a -3 Error When Launching Snagit

Problem

When you go to launch Snagit, you receive a -3 error.

Solution

Delete the License Folder:
  1. Close out of Snagit so it is not running at all. Make it's not running in the background by opening your task manager (ctrl + alt + delete) and click on the Processes tab and make sure that SnagitCapture.exe, SnagPriv.exe, and SnagitEditor.exe are not running
  2. Hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and hit the R key to open the Run window
  3. In the Run window, type the following and then hit Enter: %LocalAppData%\TechSmith\Snagit
  4. Please ZIP up and send me the License folder from this location
  5. Please delete the files inside the License folder located there (not the folder itself, just the files inside)
  6. Open a new run window with Windows + R
  7. Enter the following and click OK: C:\Users\Public\TechSmith\Snagit
  8. Please ZIP up the License folder
  9. Delete all the files in the License folder you see here. (Don't delete the folder itself, just all files inside.)
  10. Open a support ticket and attach the zipped files that you created (note that this is a critical step in addressing the issue).
  11. Open the Start menu and run Snagit from the TechSmith folder.
