My Sony Camera Footage appears washed out

Sony professional cameras use a format called  S-LOG3 color space for recorded video. Camtasia previously did not support this color space. We have completed work to have Camtasia to use these files with the use of Color LUT's for the proper view.

Please see the steps below on how to use the footage with our Color LUT feature:

  1. Download LUTs (eg: S-Log3 cube files) from Sony's website here to your local drive and unzip the file.
  2. Open Camtasia, add a MP4 file to timeline, then add the Color LUT visual effect (filter) to this media.
  3. In the Color LUT property panel, click the LUT dropdown and scroll down to select the "Import LUT file..." menu, and add the cube files you just downloaded.
  4. Switch to use the LUT filter you just imported there. I'd use 1_SGamut3CineSLog3_To_LC-709 or 4_SGamut3CineSLog3_To_Cine+709 which works well for general purpose. If you want to make your video a bit more pop-up and vivid, you may also download and use the Netral_Slog3_LUT from Dennis found here. There are many other free LUTs on the Sony's website if you'd like to try different color styles and flavors.
  5. These LUT files work on both Camtasia Mac & Windows.

For licensing reasons, we cannot include this LUT in the product by default. We recommend that users who need it install it from the resources listed above.
