This message will appear if two instances are true:
- Camtasia will need to be updated to 2025.0.3 or later. You can download the latest version of Camtasia here
- TechSmith agent is not running on your computer
Below are steps on how to check if TechSmith Agent is running on your computer:
Windows:
You can check if TechSmith Agent is running on windows by following the steps below:
- Open Task Manager and select Services on the left hand side
- Scroll down and make sure TechSmith Agent is running, If not click on Start at the top to start the service

Mac:
You can check if TechSmith Agent is running on Mac by following the steps below:
- Open Activity Monitor and search for TechSmith in the search bar at the top right
- TechSmith Agent should appear under Process Name
If TechSmith Agent does not show please follow the steps below:
- Open Apple System Settings by clicking on the Apple logo in the upper left hand corner and select System Settings
- Type in Allow in Background in the search bar on in the left hand column and select Allow in the Background
- Toggle Camtasia on the right hand side
- Verify TechSmith agent is now running in Activity Monitor
