Problem
When trying to open an SRT/VTT file in Camtasia Editor the following error message appears:
Camtasia Editor cannot import this file. This may be an unsupported file type or the file could be corrupted.
Sometimes the file imports however the captions do not display properly.
Solution
This can occur if the SRT/VTT file is not saved with an encoding of UTF-8 with BOM.
Using a free text editing program such as Notepad++ or Sublime Text open the SRT file and select File > Save with Encoding > UTF-8 with BOM.
Import this new SRT/VTT file into Camtasia Editor.
