Problem
I am unable to upload my media or I am receiving the following error.
There was an error uploading this file. File has an unsupported extension.
*This error may also indicate your file is too large, both Screencast and Screencast Classic have a 2GB file size limit.
Solution
Screencast is for sharing images and videos that can be shown, visually, with people that can watch directly on the site.
However, if you have supplementary material, such as a handout to go with your lesson, you can either provide a link to it in the description, or use the attachment feature (Screencast Classic only).
The following file formats can be uploaded to Screencast
Default Media
- MP4 (AVC h.264, HEVC h.265)
- MOV (AVC h.264, HEVC h.265)
- PNG
- JPG and JPEG
- GIF
Attachments are only available in Screencast Classic :
Attachments - Media
- MP4
- PNG
- JPG and JPEG
- GIF
Attachments - Document and Text Files
- CSV
- RTF
- TXT
- XML
Attachments - Microsoft Office Suite

Unsupported File Formats
You can convert some video formats to a MP4 file the uses the H264 Codec. Download Handbrake and watch the tutorial below to learn how to convert the file to MP4.
