Overview
All AI features in Snagit and Camtasia run entirely on-device. No data is sent to external AI services for processing. For a full list of third-party AI technologies used in TechSmith products, see Third-Party AI Technology Used in TechSmith Products.
AI features that can be disabled via MSI deployment
Enterprise administrators can control the following AI features during MSI deployment:
- Camtasia: Dynamic captions can be disabled via the MSI installer.
- Snagit: Experimental features can be disabled via the MSI installer (prevent possible future AI additions).
Contact your TechSmith enterprise representative or refer to your MSI deployment documentation for the specific properties or transforms to use when configuring these settings.
Additional settings
Camtasia
You can stop sending usage data in Camtasia Editor by going to Edit > Preferences > Program and unchecking Send usage data. This can also be turned off in the deployment tool.
Snagit
You can stop sending usage data in Snagit by opening up the Editor, going to Edit > Editor Preferences > and click Do not send usage data. This can also be turned off in the deployment tool.
Features that cannot be disabled
Core AI features that are built into Snagit and Camtasia and operate on-device cannot be disabled, as they are integral to the software's operation. Because all processing happens on-device, no customer data is transmitted to external AI services.
