What is the difference between an update and an upgrade?
- Upgrades go from version to version, for example, version 2019 to version 2020.
- Updates are small changes within the same version, for example, version 2019.1.0 to 2019.2.0.

While you have an active subscription for an individual or a business license of Snagit or Camtasia, you're entitled to the latest version! Just check for updates in your product. Camtasia Essentials, Camtasia Create, and Camtasia Pro plans include a Camtasia individual license subscription.

Snagit & Camtasia Perpetual Licenses: Versions 2024 and Earlier
Starting in 2025, Snagit and Camtasia transitioned to subscription-based models. If you purchased a version prior to 2025, you hold a perpetual license, which means you are entitled to all updates released for that specific version.
