I've had Screencast a long time, where are all my captures?

TechSmith is modernizing Screencast, and we are retiring our Classic platform that can be found here. If you are not able to see your existing content, please log into the Screencast Classic website. You will be prompted with an option to "Update" your content to Screencast Modern, and please review our Move to the New Screencast page for more details. Converting the account could potentially impact how you are using Screencast, and reviewing the FAQ section of the linked page in this paragraph may be beneficial.

Is Jing still available?

Jing is no longer available, and the retirement coincided with Adobe’s retirement of Flash (Flashplayer) at the end of 2020. Jing's coding created videos using the .swf video format, and .swf required Adobe Flash to display. Web browsers are not able to display the .swf format as of this time.

I am out of storage. What can I do now?

Storage is the total amount of data you can have on Screencast at a given time. Each file you upload uses a portion of your storage limit. If a file is deleted, its portion of your storage limit is free once again. Free accounts provide unlimited storage for image files and up to 25 video files. Pro accounts provide unlimited image and video file storage throughout the duration of the subscription. Please see the Screencast Homepage for details on upgrading.

I used to run out of bandwidth, will that still be a problem?

Bandwidth is how data transferred over the internet is measured. With Screencast Classic, the accounts are limited to 2GB of bandwidth for Free accounts and 240GB for Pro accounts. If an account hits the bandwidth limit, either the content can not be viewed until the day of the month the bandwidth resets or more bandwidth is purchased. Screencast Modern has eliminated bandwidth limitations. The new platform does not require upgrading or additional purchases for additional bandwidth each month.

How do I view my storage or bandwidth in my Screencast Classic account?

Sign into Screencast and then click My Account in the account widget.

  • In the Account Information section, view the amount of bandwidth used in the current month and how much storage space you have left.

How do I view my storage in my Screencast Modern account?

Screencast Modern only limits how many videos are uploaded for Free level of accounts, and there is no limit on image files. You can view the total number of videos by signing into your account at TechSmith Manage and then viewing the tile on the right column of the "Dashboard" menu.

Why am I getting an error uploading files on my Screencast account?

If this is a video file with .mov extension, please see the Unsupported File Formats section here

If the file is a text, PDF, or other non-media file, this is a limitation put in place by TechSmith. We have determined hosting a variety of file types on Screencast is a security vulnerability. Screencast Classic will support uploading media files only, and adding text or other attachments to the upload. Screencast Modern is limited to only media files. Please review our Screencast Supported File Formats page.
