Is Camtasia online really free?
Yes, Camtasia online is 100% free, with no software to download. You will need a free TechSmith Account to use Camtasia online.
Is there a limit to how many videos I can create?
No. You can create as many video projects as you need.
What browsers are supported?
Camtasia online currently supports Google Chrome (recommended) and Safari (Mac-only). Other Chromium browsers may work, however they are untested and your experience may vary.
Is there a limit to how long I can record?
The maximum scene duration is 5 minutes. Your recording will stop when this time limit is reached. However, each project can have as many scenes as necessary.
Is there a limit to the number of videos I can export to Screencast?
Free Screencast accounts are limited to 25 total videos. You can delete previously exported videos to stay under this limit, or subscribe to Screencast Pro for unlimited video hosting.
Will collaborators need their own TechSmith accounts?
Yes, any invited collaborators will need to log into an existing email account that matches your invitation, or create a new account for free. Learn more about collaborating in Camtasia online.
Can I access my Camtasia online projects offline?
Yes. Each Camtasia online project file can be downloaded or exported directly to Camtasia Editor, an installed desktop application for Windows or Mac.
What version of Camtasia Editor do I need to work with Camtasia online projects?
Camtasia Editor version 2025 or later.
Do I need to download and install Camtasia Editor to use Camtasia online?
You do not need to download Camtasia Editor to use Camtasia online. Camtasia Editor is an optional application that provides next-level video editing tools and the ability to work with your projects offline.
Is Camtasia online available on mobile devices?
Creating and recording in Camtasia online requires a desktop web browser. If you export video projects to Screencast, those exported videos can be viewed on any device.
Can I upload videos or images to Camtasia online projects?
Not at this time, but we’re planning to offer that option in the future. For now, if you need to combine existing images or videos with Camtasia online projects, we would recommend exporting your Camtasia online projects to Camtasia Editor for Mac or Windows.
