What is ElevenLabs and what additional functionality will it provide?
- ElevenLabs Inc. is a software vendor who is widely recognized as best-in-class in natural-sounding text to speech generation.
- TechSmith is adding ElevenLabs voices to our standalone Audiate product (CreatorAI) and our Camtasia Create and Camtasia Pro plans for no additional charge. Unfortunately, this additional capability won’t be available to all customers of these products yet. (see next question)
Which customers are getting additional functionality from Elevenlabs? Who isn’t and why?
- Ecommerce (web) customers of either standalone Audiate (CreatorAI) or Camtasia Create/Pro plans will receive this additional ElevenLabs functionality. We are currently working with our new partner to expand access to customers who are unable to purchase online - however, we aren’t yet able to offer this functionality to all customers at this time.
- Note that even without ElevenLabs additional voices, we offer 147 text-to-speech voices across multiple languages via Audiate (CreatorAI).
What is the Camtasia online product? What is camtasia.com? How is it special?
- Camtasia online and camtasia.com refer to the same product. This is a new, free online screen recorder from TechSmith named Camtasia online that is accessed at camtasia.com.
- Camtasia online is different from other online screen recorders in that it supports one-click design layouts post-recording, supports concurrent team contributions to a video, and supports integration with the Camtasia Editor. It will also support integration with Camtasia Snagit soon.
What is Camtasia vs. Camtasia Essentials vs. Camtasia Editor. What do I buy?
- Camtasia is a product family brand that refers to an integrated product suite. Sometimes, it’s used to mean the Camtasia Editor product itself.
- The Camtasia Editor is the installed desktop software application that is our combined screen recorder/non linear video editor.
- Camtasia Essentials is a Camtasia subscription plan that includes Camtasia Editor. There are two other plans that include Camtasia Editor, expanded functionality and additional products; Camtasia Create and Camtasia Pro. These plans can be purchased online by individuals.
- Businesses and teams can purchase a Camtasia Editor Business license.
What is the difference between Audiate, Camtasia Create, and Camtasia Pro? What do I buy?
- For business license customers with maintenance-based pricing who want generative AI video creation, the most economical option is to purchase Audiate standalone. This provides all functionality in the Audiate product - so everything in Create plus some of Pro.
- For business license customers, we don’t have a bundle offer at this time. You can purchase Audiate standalone.
- For customers that have a Camtasia Essentials IL subscription, the best option is to upgrade to Create or Pro plans (this can be done through our Manage portal). Create has additional AI features, and Pro has even more AI features including translation/avatars plus includes additional products including Assets, and Screencast. But you can also purchase Audiate standalone.
What are the new features coming to Camtasia 25+ from Audiate(CreatorAI)?
- An upcoming free update to Camtasia v25, and all subsequent releases will include:
- Best-in-class speech-to-text transcription
- Edit video by editing text and automatic um/ah removal
- Full-featured audio editor
- Audio effects and integration
Why/when is Snagit being renamed Camtasia Snagit and how does that impact existing customers?
- We want to make Snagit the best combined screen image capture/screen recorder available. To do that we are adding a capability from Camtasia Editor (multi-track with cursor recording) to Snagit. And we are tightening the integration of Snagit with video editors, including Camtasia.com and the Camtasia Editor. To recognize that change, we will be renaming Snagit to Camtasia Snagit.
- There is no significant impact of this brand change to existing customers other than seeing Snagit used in conjunction with the suite name Camtasia. Plus Snagit customers will now get better recording capability and better video editing integrations.
- We anticipate this brand change happening at the end of November, but it might be later.
Why/when is Audiate being renamed CreatorAI and how does that impact existing customers?
- We want to make this product the best AI video creation tool available and are partnering with the best AI technology vendors out there to deliver this.
- We are changing the name to reflect the product’s current focus on generative AI video creation as opposed to its original focus on audio editing. This product still has both AI and Audio capabilities.
- This change will require an install of the rebranded CreatorAI product, and the installed Audiate product will cease to function, but customer will continue to receive more AI capabilities going forward in our new CreatorAI product.
- We will provide date guidance on this change by end of November.
