How to purchase and manage a subscription

Details for end users who manage their own device

After installing the Snagit and/or Camtasia Editor apps from the Microsoft Store, purchase an individual or business subscription from the TechSmith online store.

  1. Individual subscriptions: your subscription for Snagit and/or Camtasia Editor is permanently linked to the account you used to purchase from the TechSmith online store…not to your Microsoft Store account. Sign in to Snagit or Camtasia Editor using your TechSmith account to access the full product experience for the duration of your subscription.
  2. Business subscriptions: use the license key delivered to you after purchase to unlock the Snagit or Camtasia Editor app you installed from the Microsoft Store and gain access to the full product experience for the duration of your subscription.

Application updates are managed in the application, not via the Microsoft Store. Check for updates or enable auto-updates to stay current with the latest feature enhancements and security updates.

Manage your subscription and billing details from the TechSmith portal. By default, the subscription will auto-renew using the same billing method you initially used to purchase the subscription.

Details for admins who manage desktop endpoints

Admins using Microsoft Intune can add and deploy Snagit and Camtasia Editor as Win32 apps from the Microsoft Store by following these steps. This method is recommended for simple scenarios where you do not need to configure the applications or package them with a license key.

You will need to manage entitlement one of two ways:

  1. Individual subscription: Each end user subscribes and renews using their own TechSmith account and billing method (e.g., corporate credit card or personal card expensed to the company).
    • Note: TechSmith accounts are authenticated via password, Google, or Apple accounts.
  2. Business subscription with unique or shared license key: Each end user must manually enter a valid serial key that you purchase, renew, and manage for license compliance risk.

SSO/SCIM are on our roadmap; we invite input and pilot partners.

Need more customization? If you need to configure the application features or update schedule, use the TechSmith deployment prep tool to generate installer files that can be used in tandem with Microsoft Intune or another supported deployment technology.
