Unable to Paste Images into Microsoft Teams (Right-Click Menu)

We are currently investigating reports of an issue where users are unable to paste images into Microsoft Teams using the right-click menu. This behavior is related to a recent Microsoft Teams update and affects multiple Windows applications.

Symptoms: "Paste" option greyed out

When attempting to share a capture from Snagit to Microsoft Teams, you may experience the following:

  • You copy an image in Snagit (via Copy All, Ctrl+C, or right-click).
  • You navigate to Microsoft Teams and right-click in the message field.
  • The Paste option in the menu is greyed out and cannot be clicked.

Note: This is a known issue within the Microsoft Teams desktop client affecting various applications and is not limited to Snagit.

Workaround: Use Keyboard Shortcuts

While Microsoft works on a permanent fix for the right-click menu bug, the standard Windows keyboard shortcut remains functional.

How to paste your capture

  1. Perform your capture in Snagit and click Copy All (or press Ctrl+C).
  2. Navigate to Microsoft Teams and click once inside the message input box to ensure it is active.
  3. Press Ctrl + V on your keyboard to paste the image.

The image should appear in the message field immediately, bypassing the disabled right-click menu.

How to check for Microsoft Teams updates

Microsoft is expected to resolve this in a future update. To ensure you are running the latest version of Teams:

  1. In Teams, select the Settings and more (...) icon next to your profile picture.
  2. Select Check for updates.
  3. Teams will check for and install any available updates in the background.
Additional Troubleshooting: If you are able to paste but the image appears blank or as an incorrect file type, please verify your Snagit Share Properties or contact our support team for further assistance.
