    Hi Folks-

If you're running into issues like this with regard to Camtasia and the Release Client of Windows 11 (as beta/preview OSes are not supported), then the best bet would be to speak to our Technical Support team. It's possible that this could be caused by hardware configurations, corrupt settings, dated or beta drivers, conflicting software, etc, so speaking with the Support Team will be the best avenue since they'll be able to dig into the problem.

Would you like me to open a ticket for you?

    -Robert

Also having this same issue with Windows 11. Just opened up one of my files I had been working on in July and now no Audio goes past 1 minute.

I am having the same issue. Resorting to Cam 2010 on Win 10 for now.

same issue, also forced to use Win10 and Camtasia 2020. had hoped for support for Win 11 with 2021 with updates by now

Same issue arising with Camtasia 20.0.13. Taking exactly the same project to a PC with Windows 10 and also Camtasia 20.0.13 all works perfectly.

Same issue with Win 11, and both Camtasia 2021 & 2019. I haven't tried it on Win 10 - but I assume it'd work, as I tested an old recording edited by Camtasia on Win 10 (where it worked. On Win 11 - no sound after 1 minute. Please Techsmith, can you at least acknowledge this issue.

Yes, I had hoped when I posted about this a month ago, that we would have some suggestions or acknowledgment from Techsmith, not just other people suffering the same issue. This issue is happening on both of my devices. So Camtastia is near unusable to me.

The only thing about it is that has no problems if I use it to capture, Camtasia's .trec format is the only format that doesn't lose audio after a minute and renders/plays back absolutely fine.

Just an update from my side around this issue:

Robert (above) was kind enough to open a ticket for me regarding this issue, and I have been in touch with TechSmith support.

The issue they say (they've been very helpful), is that I am on a Win 11 insider build, and not an official release. Their suggestion is to revert back to a Win 11 official release build, which they say will work. I do not know if all of you above that sees this behavior are also on non-release Win 11 builds. If so, reverting to an official release may be a solution.

I solved it by switching to an editor that doesn't have issues with Win 11 Insider builds.

Finally, I do want to thank Robert for his help in opening the ticket, and Aaron from TechSmith support for his timely replies.

Niels,  What editor did you switch to?  I'm running into the same issue and need to just make some simple edits to get some video's published.

Just following up, sorry for the delay. I was stuck on the Dev build of Windows 11 and getting off required a fresh install of Windows 11. I finally did that this past weekend and so far Camtasia is working as it should. So hopefully that was the issue. I had jumped on Dev to test for compatibility of the apps I use, so it is unfortunate that this actually created the problem...

alanlwright - thanks for confirming that Win 11 official release works.

Jimbanach - I got Movavi Video Suite. Looks quite a lot like Camtasia. Working good so far.

So i get this issue too on Windows 11. Running release build after upgrade from Windows 10. Have tired new install too on another device and have same issues with audio and general "slowness"/choppy video on creating a video

INstalled on Win10 21H1 and no issues. Then upgraded to Win11 and same issues again.

I'm having exactly the same issue with Win11 and I have a Microsoft surface Book 3, so it's a sham!
I've tried with Techmith support but they failed utterly.
Please CAMTASIA solve the issue. This is very bad!

I have submitted this bug to both TechSmith and through to the Windows Insider team. The fact that this is occurring within the Insider channel and not the release means likely that this will impact Windows 11 at the next release drop.

If you are having this issue, please submit a ticket to TechSmith as this is impacting many of us and having multiple system diagnostics will help identify the problems sooner (hopefully).

I've submitted this ticket for this precise bug but the support I got is a joke!

Exact same issue--all my other software works fine with Win 11including Premier Pro but Camtasia 2021 =no audio beyond a minute and performance issues. Unusable--unacceptable Techsmith-- 4 months and no solution yet!

I just spent hours looking for help and solutions and came upon this post.  Same issues here.  It's a nightmare.  Any suggestions on how to install a proper Wind 11 if I have insider without messing up my PC and Windows.

Have you tried running Camtasia in Compatibility mode?

  • Niels Berglund

No fix yet. I have ditched Camtasia in favour of another commercial product. It is a shame that TechSmith doesn't seem to take this issue seriously.

Same - For a time it was still working with videos I had captured with it's recorder with full audio, but then as about 2 updates ago, that stopped working too. It took me a while but I've worked my way From Developer Stream to Release Candidate Stream for insiders so I'm the closest to normal Windows 11 I can be and that's made no difference at all.

I keep checking in with it every couple of weeks cause I still prefer Camtasia's UI and rendering system but yeah... It's been 6 months since I made my initial post and it's gotten worse not better.

    I have beta tested software.

In the long run I’ve wasted man hours and lost work.

If the problem doesn’t manifest itself on updated & officially released versions of Windows 11. I place the blame on Microsoft. Camtasia didn’t change, Windows Insider did.

Microsoft may or may not catch/correct the error before the official release.

    If Microsoft corrects it.

Any manhours invested by TechSmith’s support team would have been wasted.

    I’ll reiterate my previous post.

Try running Camtasia in Compatibility mode. I’ve switched Camtasia 2021 to run in Windows 8 compatibility settings and it seems to run without issue.

    I’m running Windows 10.

Compatibility mode should run/be 100% unaltered across all versions of Windows Beta/Insider/Official release.

I have this issue as well.  When I reached out to them, I was informed that it's because of my OS.  I have Windows 11 Beta insider, I opted out but might take a long time before Windows will revert me to the stable/released version.  2021 is doing exactly as everyone describes here with the audio disappearing if you bounce to another part of the video, however, the 2019 version is operating flawlessly, so I am concerned I will continue having the issue with a stable Windows 11 version when that day comes.

I tried running it in compatibility mode. I tried each mode: 8, 7, and Vista and each failed.

Just noticed this happening on MS SB3 and what happens is that the:
    1. Recording volume is exceptionally low.
    2. If I stop the playhead, it does not play the audio any more though it does if I start from 00:00:00.
    3. Pre-recorded materials are OK. Like music lib stuff. They play all the way.

I understand that this is happening in the beta builds and that's what I have. As for TechSmith this is a good test case and looks consistently reproducible by many who reported, so I'd ask you to try to fix it, because when and if this goes to production release everyone including TS will have a huge business-side headache, user attrition etc.  As for me, I will be back producing on Macs for a while then.

Additional Findings - It's seeming to be in the Playback and not the recording

I just tried recording with SnagIt. SnagIt records and plays back both fine for a 2.5 min recording.
But when I import the video into Camtasia, it produces the same audio issue. It just does not play the audio after you stop.

Also I did try Windows 8 compat mode. That did not work in my case.

@Manabu I experienced the same thing. I uploaded media that plays fine everywhere, not recorded with Camtasia 2021, and 2021 has problems playing it back.  Usually it plays fine if I don't interrupt it, but as soon as you skip to a different part I don't get any sound or if I skip back to the beginning I get sound, but it's completely out of sync.
