Camtasia Recorder Not Opening

Problem

After clicking Record in Camtasia Editor to launch the Recorder, the editor minimizes but the Recorder never opens.

Solution

Option 1: Run Camtasia as an Administrator

Try running Camtasia as an administrator by right-clicking the Camtasia shortcut and selecting Run as Administrator.

Option 2: Reset Camtasia

1. Open Camtasia.
2. Select Edit > Preferences > Advanced.
3. Click Reset Settings.
4. Click Reset.

Option 3: Force Close Camtasia Recorder

1. Right-click on your Windows Taskbar to open the Task Manager.
   1. Alternatively, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to open the Task Manager.
2. Find Camtasia Recorder.
3. Right-click Camtasia Recorder and select End Task.
   
   
   
   
4. Reopen the Recorder.

Option 4: Adjust Save Preferences

This can happen after trying to open the Recorder to do a second recording. In this case, try adjusting the save preferences in Camtasia. 

• Restart the computer (required)

1. In Camtasia Recorder, select Tools > Preferences > Files.
2. Click Files.
3. Select Prompt for File Name and click OK.
   
4. Try a new recording.
