Problem
There are various reasons why PowerPoint is having issues with the Add-In.
- The Add-In toolbar is not visible in PowerPoint.
- When enabling the Add-In, an error appears in requiring administrative privileges.
- PowerPoint is not detected.
Solution
There are some options to add the PowerPoint Add-In in PowerPoint 2019, 2016, and 2013.
The Camtasia PowerPoint Addin for 32 bit versions of PowerPoint 2019, 2016, and 2013 is only supported on Camtasia 2021.0.5 and earlier. Powerpoint 64 bit is required for all current versions of Camtasia.
Option 1: Modify Changes in Programs and Features
- Close PowerPoint and Camtasia.
- Press Windows+R on your keyboard to open the Run window.
- Type the following and click OK: control panel
- Select Programs > Programs and Features and find your version of Camtasia in the list.
- Right-click Camtasia and select Change.
- Select Modify.
- Select Enable Camtasia Add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint. Then, click Modify. Once the modification is complete, click Finish.
If this option if greyed out and unable to be selected this indicates PowerPoint is either a 32-bit version or is not detected by Camtasia.
Option 2: Enable Add-In Within PowerPoint
Camtasia 9 and Later

- Right-click Camtasia in the shortcut to your start menu and select More > Run as Administrator.

- Open PowerPoint.
