Snagit (Windows): Shortcut Does Not Work


After installing Snagit, the shortcut on the taskbar and/or start menu are not working. 


The error below may be displayed: 

"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."


If clicking the icon in the taskbar does not open Snagit, re-pin the shortcut to the taskbar.

  1. Right-click the current shortcut on the taskbar and choose Unpin from taskbar
  2. Locate the following folder on your computer (# indicates the version of Snagit that is installed):

    Snagit 2018 and Later

    C:\Program Files\TechSmith\Snagit #\

    Snagit 13 and Earlier

    Windows 32 Bit: C:\Program Files\TechSmith\Snagit #\

    Windows 64 Bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\TechSmith\Snagit #\
  3. Right-click Snagit32.exe and choose Pin to taskbar

    If you would like to add SnagitEditor.exe to the taskbar, follow the same process above.
