Recording Failed, An Unknown Error Has Occurred

Problem

When starting a recording in TechSmith Capture, an error appears that says Recording Failed, an unknown error has occurred.

Solution

This error can have multiple causes.  Here are some things that can help resolve this error

  • Disconnect any Bluetooth devices connected to your PC.
  • Unplug any microphones or webcams connected to the PC.
  • Update audio drivers from your PC manufacturer's web site.
