With the Snagit 2025 & Camtasia 2025 release on February 12, 2025, TechSmith moved to a subscription license model. All active maintenance agreements were converted to a Business License subscription (with maintenance based pricing).
What does this mean for me?
If you had active maintenance with the Snagit 2025 or Camtasia 2025 release, we've turned your maintenance into a Business License subscription. This will not impact any previous perpetual version that you've owned. If you decide you no longer wish to renew your subscription, you'll no longer be able to access the 2025 or later versions.
With the Business License subscription, your benefits stay the same! They include:
- Premium support: Email, Chat, and Phone support
- Access to certification courses
- Ability to add additional users at the maintenance-based pricing rate
An additional benefit is that with the 2025 release, you'll be provided a new software key and that key will work to unlock all new versions of your product as long as you keep your subscription active. You'll no longer need to receive a new key each year!
Will my price change?
Our current and active maintenance subscribers (now Business License subscriptions) will continue to receive maintenance-based pricing. This is a significantly lower price point than our new subscription pricing. While there will be annual price increases, TechSmith is committed to continuing the discounted pricing until at least 2030. You can continue adding users to your Business License subscription at maintenance-based pricing.
How do I know if my subscription is active?
Visit manage.techsmith.com, sign in to your TechSmith account, and click on the Keys tab. The status of your maintenance agreement will be listed below the software key for each product.
Can I pay by PO instead of credit card?
Yes! Information on submitting a purchase order can be found here.
How can I tell what type of license I have?
If you purchased Snagit or Camtasia before February 12, 2025 and had active maintenance when Snagit 2025 & Camtasia 2025 were released, you will have a Business License subscription with maintenance-based pricing.
If you have an auto-renewing maintenance agreement from TechSmith's online store, you should see a "transitioned from maintenance" note under Subscriptions when visiting our Manage portal.
What if I stop renewing?
If you choose to stop renewing your Business License subscription, you'll lose access to version 2025 and later versions as these versions require a subscription to access. You can cancel your subscription at any time. However, once it expires, you will lose access to subscription versions of the product, access to our certification courses, premium support, and legacy subscription pricing discounts.
You will always have access to previously purchased perpetual versions, with support available in accordance with our support policy.
