Problem
When trying to open an SRT file in Camtasia the following error message appears:
Camtasia cannot import this file. This may be an unsupported file type or the file could be corrupted.
Sometimes the file imports however the captions do not display properly.
Solution
This can occur if the SRT file is not saved with an encoding of UTF-8 with BOM.
Using a free text editing program such as Notepad++ or Sublime Text open the SRT file and select File > Save with Encoding > UTF-8 with BOM.
Import this new SRT file into Camtasia.
