If you need to remove your software key from Snagit, please follow the steps below:
Snagit (Windows)
Snagit 2023.1.0 and newer:
Please do the steps below to remove the license key from Snagit:
- Close Snagit, making sure it's not running in the background by checking Task Manager (Control + Alt + Delete)
- Go to manage.techsmith.com and sign in
- Click on the "Keys" tab at the top of the page
- Find your Snagit key listed here (copy and paste the key into a blank document or notepad if you need to save it)
- Click the trash can icon next to the key to remove it from your account
- Press Windows + R to open a run Window
- Copy and Paste in the following, then click OK: C:\ProgramData\TechSmith\
- You may see multiple versions of Snagit folders here, you will want to do step 9 for each version folder if you are looking to remove the key references for any version of the software.
- Delete the Reginfo.ini and Reginfo.txt files from here
- Press Windows + R to open a run Window
- Copy and Paste in the following, then click OK: %LocalAppData%\TechSmith\Snagit
- Delete the License folder located here (If you don't see a License folder at this location, please move on to the next step)
- Press Windows + R to open a run Window
- Copy and Paste in the following, then click OK: C:\Users\Public\TechSmith\Snagit
- Delete the License folder located here
- Re-open Snagit and enter a new license key
Snagit 2023.0.3 and earlier:
Please do the steps below to remove the license key from Snagit:
- Close Snagit, making sure it's not running in the background by checking Task Manager (Control + Alt + Delete)

Snagit All Versions
Please do the steps below to remove the license key from Snagit:
- Close Snagit, make sure it's not running in the background via the activity monitor ( Command+ Spacebar to open Spotlight Search, search for Activity Monitor and click on it from the results in the list) Here you will want to search for any running Snagit processes and force quit out of them if they are still running.
- Go to manage.techsmith.com and sign in
- Click on the "Keys" tab at the top of the page
- Find your Snagit key listed here (copy and paste the key into a blank document, textEdit, or Notes if you need to save it)
- Click the trash can icon next to the key to remove it from your account
- Open up a new Finder window and navigate up to Go > Go to Folder
- In the search bar Copy and Paste in the following, then click Enter/Return: /Users/Shared/TechSmith
- Delete the Snagit Folder from this location
- Re-open Snagit and enter a new license key
