If you're running into an issue where Camtasia is crashing on startup, please try the following:
Update Camtasia
- Download the most up-to-date version of Camtasia
- If you're on the latest version already, please uninstall / reinstall using the appropriate link below:
Update Video Drivers
- Some computer manufacturers, such as Dell, Lenovo, HP, and others, will maintain their own drivers so you may need to check your computer manufacturer's support site first.
- We recommend using the tools linked above for each manufacturer to automatically scan your system for updated drivers.
- Additionally, some individual hardware manufacturers utilize their own tools to manage the drivers; ex. nVidia's GeForce Experience and AMD's Adrenaline Software suite.
- If you know what video card you have in your computer then you can manually update your drivers from the following links:

- Administrative rights may be required to update your audio and video drivers, please reach out to your IT team before trying to update your drivers.
- Restart the computer once any drivers have been updated (required).
Repair C++ Libraries
- Download and repair the latest C++ Libraries
- If you are on Camtasia 2024.0.3 or later, you may need to repair your C++ libraries; you can do so from the following direct link:
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe - Once downloaded, run the installer and choose "Repair"
- Restart the computer once the repair has been completed and try running Camtasia once more (required).
