As a subscription owner, you can add seat managers. This way, you can remain in charge of the subscription (purchases, cancelations, and other options) but at the same time, share the responsibility for seat management with one or more team members.
After you add a seat manager, they receive full access to the Seats page for a particular subscription.
You can remove a seat manager for any of the subscriptions that you own. If you remove all seat managers, you will be the only one who can assign and revoke seats for this subscription.
Add a Seat Manager
- Visit manage.techsmith.com and sign in to your TechSmith account.
- Select Seats.
- (If you have multiple subscriptions) In the subscription selector, click a one-seat or multi-seat subscription for which you need to add a seat manager.
- Click Seat managers.
- Enter an email of the person who should be added as a seat manager for all products associated with the selected subscription. Click Add.
After the seat manager is added:
- Seat manager receives an email notification.
- Seat manager gets full access to the Seats page for the selected subscription and can assign and revoke seats for all products in that subscription.
- Subscription owner remains in charge of the subscription (purchases, cancelations, and other options) and can also manage seats as needed.
- Subscription owner can add more seat managers and remove seat managers.
Remove a Seat Manager
- Visit manage.techsmith.com and sign in to your TechSmith account.
- Select Seats.
- (If you have multiple subscriptions) In the subscription selector, click a one-seat or multi-seat subscription for which you need to remove a seat manager.
- Click Seat managers.
- Next to the email of a seat manager, click Remove (
).
- Confirm that you would like to remove the seat manager for all products associated with the selected subscription.
After you remove the seat manager for a subscription, they lose access to the Seats page for this subscription.
Seat manager can also resign by themselves and give up the seat management responsibilities. See Become or Resign as a Seat Manager.

Yes, the subscription owner has full control over the subscription, including seat management, although the email of the subscription owner is not shown in the Seat managers dialog.

No, you assign a seat manager only for the subscription that you select (in our example, multi-seat subscription with ID A-S00328955) and all products associated with that subscription.
If you want to assign a seat manager to more subscriptions, you need to do it separately for each subscription.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that seat managers get access only to the Seats page for the subscription. Subscription owner is the only person who has access to the subscription-related pages under Direct orders or Online store orders.
Yes, on the Seats page, seat managers can view the same information and use the same seat management options as the subscription owner.
What's the difference between adding a seat manager and transferring the subscription to a new owner?
If you would like to remain in charge of purchases, cancelations, and renewals, you can remain the subscription owner and add one or more seat managers who will manage seat assignments. As a subscription owner, you too can manage seat assignments if needed.
If you would like to fully hand over the subscription to someone else, you can transfer your multi-seat subscription to a new owner. See (Multi-Seat Subscriptions) About Ownership Transfer.
This may occur if you added a person as a seat manager, but after this, the person deleted their TechSmith account.
The person can no longer assign or revoke seats, so you can remove this person from the list of seat managers. If the person is added as a seat manager for several subscriptions, you need to remove the person for each of these subscriptions one by one.
After you remove a seat manager, we do not send any email notifications, and this event is not shown on the History page under Online store orders or Direct orders. However, the seat manager will not have access to the Seats page for that subscription.
After a seat manager resigns (gives up their seat manager role), we do not send any email notifications, and this event is not shown on the History page under Online store orders or Direct orders. However, the seat manager's email disappears from the Seat managers dialog for that subscription.
When you select Seats and open the subscription selector, the subscription you are looking for may not be on the list.
Possible reasons:
- Subscription was canceled or deactivated.
- Subscription was purchased with a credit card and expired.
- Multi-seat subscription was purchased with a purchase order and expired more than 30 days ago.
- You are neither the owner nor a seat manager for the subscription.
