I Need to Move My Software to Another Computer

See the instructions below on how to move your software to another computer while keeping your resources (unsaved Snagit captures or custom Camtasia libraries).

On your OLD computer:

  1. Open Snagit Editor.
  2. Click Help > About Snagit.
  3. Copy your Software key (25 characters comprised of letters and numbers) for activating Snagit on your new computer.

If you have an individual subscription, you don’t need a key, so skip this step.

  4. Export your unsaved captures that you want to back up or import to the new computer.
  5. Uninstall Snagit from your computer.

On your NEW computer:

  1. Visit TechSmith's Download Center and download the appropriate version of the installer.
  2. Locate and run the installation file.

If you have any issues installing an older version of Snagit on a newer Windows OS, please check the Windows Compatibility Chart. You may need to upgrade your Snagit license to the latest version.

  3. Sign in to unlock Snagit. If this doesn't work, and you have a Snagit key, enter it manually.
  4. Import your captures (exported in step 4) if needed.
