I Need to Move My TechSmith Software to Another Computer

Snagit (Windows)

  1. Open Snagit Editor from your old computer.
  2. Click Help > About Snagit > Support Information and scroll down a few lines until you locate Software key: [25 characters comprised of letters and numbers].
  3. Copy key for activating Snagit on your new computer.
  4. Uninstall Snagit from your computer.
  5. Visit the Download Center on your new computer and download the appropriate version of the installer.
  6. Locate and run the installation file. You will be prompted to enter your Software Key during the installation process.

Snagit (Mac)

Purchased/Downloaded from TechSmith

  1. Open Snagit Editor from your old computer.
  2. Click Snagit > About Snagit [Version Number]. The software key is shown as 25 characters comprised of letters and numbers.
  3. Copy key for activating Snagit on your computer.
  4. Uninstall Snagit from your computer.
  5. Visit the Download Center on your new computer and download the appropriate version of the installer.
  6. Locate and run the installation file. You will be prompted to enter your Software Key during the installation process.

Purchased/Downloaded from the App Store

  1. Open the App Store on the new computer.
  2. Log in with the same Apple ID that was used to originally purchase Snagit.
  3. Search Snagit in the App Store. You should be able to download and install Snagit without having to purchase the software again.

Camtasia (Windows)

  1. Open Camtasia Editor from your old computer.
  2. Click Help > Technical Support and scroll down a few lines until you locate RegistrationKey: [25 characters comprised of letters and numbers].
  3. Copy key for activating Camtasia on your new computer.
  4. Uninstall Camtasia from your computer.
  5. Visit the Download Center on your new computer and download the appropriate version of the installer.
  6. Locate and run the installation file. You will be prompted to enter your Software Key during the installation process.

Camtasia (Mac)

Purchased/Downloaded from TechSmith

  1. Open Camtasia Editor from your old computer.
  2. Click Camtasia [Version Number] > Activate. Locate Software Key: [25 characters comprised of letters and numbers].
  3. Copy key for activating Camtasia on your new computer.
  4. Uninstall Camtasia from your computer.
  5. Visit the Download Center on your new computer and download the appropriate version of the installer.
  6. Locate and run the installation file. You will be prompted to enter your Software Key during the installation process.

Purchased/Downloaded from the App Store

  1. Open the App Store on the new computer.
  2. Log in with the same Apple ID that was used to originally purchase Camtasia.
  3. Search Camtasia in the App Store. You should be able to download and install Camtasia without having to purchase the software again.

To re-install the Morae Components on a new computer, please use the link in the original email provided with your Morae purchase.

  1. Download Jing
  2. Locate and run the installation file.
    • Windows: jing_setup.exe
    • Mac: jing.dmg
  3. Open Jing after the installation is complete.
  4. The Welcome Screen is presented. Click Get Started in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
  5. Select Use existing account. Then, enter your Screencast.com account information.

Jing or Jing Pro is now activated on your new computer and ready to use.
