I need to move my TechSmith Software to another computer

Snagit

  1. Open the software on your old computer
  2. Open the Snagit Editor and navigate to the File tab > Help > About Snagit > Support Information and scroll down a few lines until you locate Software key.
  3. The Software Key is a 25 Character set of numbers and letters, presented at the locations described above.  Copy this down as you will need it for activation on your new computer.
  4. Remove the Snagit from your computer following steps here.
  5. On your new computer, use the appropriate link below to download the installer for your TechSmith Software.

Once you've downloaded the appropriate version, locate and run the installation file.  You will be prompted to enter your Software Key during the installation process.

Camtasia Studio

  1. Open the software on your old computer
  2. Go to Help > Technical Support > Scroll down until you locate the Camtasia Studio Settings section and find Registration Key
  3. The Software Key is a 25 Character set of numbers and letters, presented at the locations described above.  Copy this down as you will need it for activation on your new computer.
  4. Remove the Camtasia Studio from your computer following steps here.
  5. On your new computer, use the appropriate link below to download the installer for your TechSmith Software.

Once you've downloaded the appropriate version, locate and run the installation file.  You will be prompted to enter your Software Key during the installation process.

If Snagit was purchased and downloaded directly through TechSmith:

  1. Open the software on your old computer
  2. Go to the Snagit Menu (next to the Apple Menu) > About Snagit
  3. The Software Key is a 25 Character set of numbers and letters, presented at the locations described above.  Copy this down as you will need it for activation on your new computer.
  4. Remove Snagit for Mac from your computer following steps here.
  5. On your new computer, use the appropriate link below to download the installer for your TechSmith Software.

If Snagit was purchased through the Apple App Store:
  1. Open the App Store on the new computer
  2. Log in with the same Apple ID that was used to originally purchase Snagit
  3. Search for 'Snagit' in the App Store
  4. You should be able to download and install Snagit without having to purchase again

Camtasia for Mac

If Camtasia for Mac was purchased and downloaded directly through TechSmith:

  1. Open the software on your old computer
  2. Go to the Camtasia Menu (next to the Apple Menu) > Activate
  3. The Software Key is a 25 Character set of numbers and letters, presented at the locations described above.  Copy this down as you will need it for activation on your new computer.
  4. Remove Camtais for Mac from your computer following steps here.
  5. On your new computer, use the appropriate link below to download the installer for your TechSmith Software.

If Camtasia for Mac was purchased through the Apple App Store:
  1. Open the App Store on the new computer
  2. Log in with the same Apple ID that was used to originally purchase Camtasia
  3. Search for 'Camtasia' in the App Store
  4. You should be able to download and install Camtasia without having to purchase again

Morae

To re-install the Morae Components on a new computer, please use the link in the original email provided with your Morae Purchase.

Morae Manager requires a License Key (also provided in the original email) for activation.  If you are having trouble activating Morae Manager, please visit this link:

Jing

  1. Download the Jing program for your Operating System using this link:
  2. Download Jing
  3. Once downloaded, locate and run the installation file (jing_setup.exe on PC and jing.dmg on Mac).
  4. After the installation is complete, run the Jing program.
  5. You will be presented with the Welcome Screen.  In the bottom right-hand corner you will find a Sign In button.
  6. Make sure to use the option Use existing account, then enter your Screencast.com Account information.

Jing or Jing Pro is now activated on your new computer and ready to use.
