(Multi-Seat Subscriptions) Auto-Renewal

At manage.techsmith.com, you can view and manage your Direct orders (multi-seat subscriptions purchased via the sales team) for these cloud products:

Turn On Auto-Renewal

If you purchased a monthly or yearly multi-seat subscription with a credit card, you can turn on auto-renewal.

in direct orders, on the subscriptition page, the renewal section shows if auto-renewal is available for this subscription

At the start of each new billing month or year, the system automatically renews all products in your multi-seat subscription and processes the renewal amount on your primary credit card.

  1. Visit manage.techsmith.com and sign in to your TechSmith account.
  2. Select Direct orders.
  3. (If you have multiple subscriptions) In the subscription selector, click the subscription for which you would like to turn on auto-renewal.

  4. In the Renewal section, click View auto-renewal terms.

  5. Review the following:
    • Number of products that will be auto-renewed (all products for which you did not cancel renewal).
    • Renewal date—Date when the new billing month or year begins and when auto-renewal amount is processed.
    • Forecasted amount—Approximate auto-renewal amount. The final amount may differ slightly.

  6. Click Turn on auto-renewal.

  • This event is saved in Direct orders > History.
    in direct orders, in subscription history, you can view the auto-renewal status updated event
  • Email notification is sent to your shipping email address.

  • 30 days before the auto-renewal date, you receive an email reminder at your shipping email address.

    Also, the option to renew the subscription early becomes available. See (Multi-Seat Subscriptions) Early Renewal.
  • If you do not renew the subscription early, on the renewal date, the system automatically renews your subscription and processes the renewal amount on your primary credit card. At your billing email address, you receive an email notification with order details.

    If the auto-renewal payment fails, you receive an email at your billing email address. Also, at manage.techsmith.com, you can view a hint about an unpaid invoice. Please resolve the issue with the credit card (or, add a new card), and then try to pay the invoice. See (Multi-Seat Subscriptions) View and Pay My Invoices.

  • You can turn off auto-renewal for the subscription at any time.

Turn Off Auto-Renewal

If auto-renewal for a multi-seat subscription is turned on, you can turn it off at any time:

  • You will not be billed for this subscription again.
  • Products in the subscription remain active until the end of the current billing month or year. They will not be auto-renewed at the start of the next billing term, but you will have the option to renew your subscription manually.
  1. Visit manage.techsmith.com and sign in to your TechSmith account.
  2. Select Direct orders.
  3. (If you have multiple subscriptions) In the subscription selector, click the subscription for which you would like to turn off auto-renewal.

  4. In the Renewal section, click Turn off auto-renewal.

  5. Confirm that you would like to turn off auto-renewal for all products in the subscription.
    a confirmation dialog appears, saying that your subscription will stay active until the end of the current billing period. After this, all products will be automatically canceled and all seats will be revoked. Are you you want to turn off auto-renewal?

Frequently Asked Questions

No, it only cancels the renewal.

For example, if you turn off auto-renewal for a monthly multi-seat subscription, your subscription will expire at the end of the billing month. Until then, the products remain active and available for users with assigned seats.

You can renew your multi-seat subscription manually for 60 days (30 days before and after the subscription expires).

The option to turn on auto-renewal may be unavailable in the following cases.

You purchased a multi-seat subscription with a purchase order (PO). You can renew your subscription manually:

in direct orders, on the subscription page, in the renewal section, you can view the following information: subscription cannot be renewed automatically because PO was used to purchase the subscription or is set as the primary payment method. You can renew the subscription manually during 30 days before it expires

All products in your multi-seat subscription are canceled. To keep using the products after the expiration date, please contact Sales.

in direct orders, on the subscription page, in the renewal section, you can view the following information: all products in your subscription will expire on this date

Your multi-seat subscription expired. You can renew the subscription for 30 days after expiration. See (Multi-Seat Subscriptions) Expiration and Renewal.

Your multi-seat account is blocked because of overdue invoices. See (Multi-Seat Subscriptions) Unblock an Account.

in direct orders, on the subscription page, you can view two hints: one about unpaid invoices, and another one about your account being blocked, and a prompt to pay all invoices as soon as possible

You are registered as a tax-exempt customer. To renew the subscription, contact Sales.

in direct orders, on the subscription page, you can view a hint saying that as a tax-exempt customer, you cannot purchase products or seats and renew the subscription by yourself; please contact the Sales team at techsmith.com/contact.html

If you have several products in your multi-seat subscription, you can turn auto-renewal on/off for all products, but not for each product individually.

If you would like to turn off auto-renewal for one of the many products in your subscription, you can cancel this product.

once you cancel a product, on the product card, you can view a hint that says that this product will be removed from your subscription on this date

In this example, on September 02, 2022:

  • Video Review will be auto-renewed.
  • Assets for Camtasia will be removed from the subscription, and all seat assignments will be revoked. To purchase a new multi-seat Assets for Camtasia subscription, you will need to contact Sales.

You can turn on/off auto-renewal for your multi-seat subscription at any time. If you have multiple subscriptions, you can choose different auto-renewal options for each subscription.

Yes, 30 days before the auto-renewal date, you receive an email reminder at your shipping email address.

On the last day of the billing month or year, at your billing and shipping email addresses, you receive an email that your multi-seat subscription may expire today.

If the subscription auto-renewal is on, please disregard this email.

If the subscription auto-renewal is off or unavailable, you can renew your subscription manually for 30 days after the expiration. See (Multi-Seat Subscriptions) Expiration and Renewal.

On the subscription page, you can view the forecasted amount for renewing your multi-seat subscription. The actual renewal amount may differ slightly from the forecasted amount.

Please note that if you purchased a subscription with a discount, it will not apply during renewal.

After your multi-seat subscription is auto-renewed, you can view the renewal amount in Direct orders > Invoices and Payments.
